GULS events have always been one of the biggest parts of the society and this year is set to be no exception. We have several exciting academic events along with numerous social events, in association with our sponsor club Viper. Check back as the year progresses for further information and even more events!

GULS Freshers’ Week Induction

Freshers’ Week, week beginning September 15th, 2014 (TBC)

Glasgow University Main Building

Its induction week for our Freshers and as such we will have our Freshers’ Stall in the Main Building ready to welcome you all and showcase to you what the society has planned for the coming year.

On Induction day we will take you around campus and show you where to go and where to avoid. Use this opportunity to ask all those niggling questions you would never ask a lecturer in front of 200 people!

GULS Student Helper Night Out

Week beginning September 15th, 2014 (TBC)

Location TBC

Freshers' Week wouldn't be the same without the invaluable assistance of our Student Helpers. The Student Helper Night Out is an opportunity for all Student Helpers to get to know each other and start the social year as we mean to go on!

Family Ties

Wednesday, September 24th, 2014

GUU Beer Bar -> Viper

It's true that you can't pick your family, but here at GULS we like to make sure you have a second home whilst studying with us. Our Family Ties Pub Crawl is a brilliant opportunity to meet other students from different years, and gives you a great network of people to ask about what lies ahead at law school. Further information about how to apply, prizes and venues will be provided in due course

Second Hand Book Sale

Tuesday, September 30th - Wednesday, October 1st, 2014

Elliott Library, GUU

One of the worst things about studying law is by far getting a hold of the books. They can be horrendously hard to find in the library (especially in a large class) and buying them new or on amazon is extortionate.

Luckily we here at GULS want to help you save (or make) as much money as possible, so we present you with our first semester secondhand book sale! It is by far the best way to get books on campus at an affordable price.

Further information will provided closer to the start of term.

Cheese & Wine

Week beginning 29th September (TBC)

GUU Dining Room -> Viper

Cheese and Wine is one of our most famous events, and is a great way to start the year. With our new sponsor club Viper just minutes away from the GUU you can be sure no time will be wasted in making our new freshers feel at home, and welcoming back all current members.

A great way to meet people in other years and to familiarise yourself with the new committee.

Bubbles & Truffles

Wednesday, October 8th, 2014

Location TBC

Back for a third year is the GULS Bubbles & Truffles Networking Evening!

Following the previous success of this event in the last two years, we are hoping to make it bigger and better than ever before. With several big name firms already confirmed this event is not to be missed. It is an invaluable networking opportunity and the most important event of the year when thinking about what you want from your future. This event is ticketed and is likely to sell out so please keep an eye on this page, as well as the Facebook and the Twitter, to ensure you don't miss out.

If you have any questions, or would like to appear at Bubbles & Truffles please contact our Vice-President Academic, Eve Massie, at vpacademic@gulawsociety.com

Wednesday Unreasonableness!

Wednesday, October 15th 2014

Are you a fresher who has loved everything that GULS has offered you so far? Are you outgoing, a bit of a laugh and up for a challenge? Are you simply an older student who loves a free GULS bar?

Then you definitely must join us for Wednesday Unreasonableness!

This is our first year hustings where we elect First Year Representatives to sit on the GULS Committee! This is your chance to have a say in the running of the society and gain loads of new skills and friends. Being on the committee is excellent for your CV and gives you tons of opportunities to progress and move further up in the society. We all agree it is the best thing you will do while at University.

In usual GULS style, to provide support and give you a bit of Dutch Courage, we will be providing yet another FREE BAR for all!

More information about applications will be available closer to the time. However, if you have any questions about running for election, please send them to our President, Siobhan MacMaster at president@gulawsociety.com

The Pinsent Masons Inter-Varsity Cup

Saturday, October 18th, 2014

Glasgow, Powerleague and Glasgow Caledonian University Sports Facilities

Every year, the Law Societies from the Universities of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee come together to compete in the Pinsent Masons Inter-Varsity Cup. Teams from each university compete in Hockey, Football, Rugby, Basketball and Netball over the course of a tournament hosted at one of the 4 universities. This is the 4th year of the tournament and GULS is very keen to show the other Scottish Universities why Glasgow is the place to be! It should be a great event so make sure you are available to play for the day if you are playing in one of our GULS teams, and more importantly remember to bring your A-game.

Our Sports Convenor will establish sports teams close to the start of the year, and these are a great way to meet people from other years, as well as an excellent way to relieve any and all law related stress (plus, we hear they have excellent nights out)! More information will be provided at the start of term, but if you have any questions about Inter-Varsity please feel free to contact our Sports Convenor, Caroline Bone, at sports@gulawsociety.com

The GULS Subcrawl!

Thursday, November 6th, 2014

GUU Beer Bar -> Viper (with plenty of stops on the way!)

Glasgow Subcrawls are infamous, and GULS knows how its done. So join us for this classic event, which will both familiarise you with the subway stops and rid you of those mid semester blues.

After some careful censoring of the more colourful subway stations, we will provide a venue and a drink for each of the chosen stations and will see you all in Viper to round off the night. Keep an eye on our social networks closer to the time for the list of stops and associated beverages!

GULS Charity Event
